Facial palsy can occur if there is a viral infection, middle ear infection, stroke, tumor, cold, injury, ear surgery, facial nerve damage.

If your face is suddenly curved to one side, your right eye is not closed, and water is spilled while doing coolie, you will understand that you have a problem with your facial nerve.

The seventh human cranial nerve is called the facial nerve.  When it becomes partially or completely paralyzed, it is called facial paralysis or palsy.  It is also called Bell's palsy because a person named John Bell first diagnosed the disease.  It is more common in women than men.

Facial palsy can occur if there is a viral infection, middle ear infection, stroke, tumor, cold, injury, ear surgery, facial nerve damage.  When this happens, the victim's face becomes curved to one side;  The eyes on the affected side do not close and water falls through the eyes.  When you go to the coolie, the water goes to the other side or falls through the mouth.  It is difficult to swallow food.  The forehead cannot be folded.  A lot of the time it gets involved.

Physicians can get an idea of facial palsy by knowing the patient's history and examining the nerves.  There is no need for such an experiment.  Complete blood count with ESR, X-ray of the tempro-mandibular joint of the jaw, nerve conduction velocity (NCV) of facial nerve etc. can be done if required.  You should know if you have blood sugar or any other problem.  This is because these patients may have to take high doses of steroids, which can greatly increase the sugar in diabetics.

Physiotherapy treatment is very important as well as starting the treatment of the patient by finding the cause of the disease.  Such as antiviral in case of virus infection, steroids to reduce inflammation, treatment in case of stroke.

Specialist physiotherapists plan different types of treatment according to the patient's condition.  These include proprioceptive neuro muscular facilitation, infrared radiation therapy, electrical stimulation therapy, active and passive facial muscle exercises, speech re-education therapy, ballooning exercises, wrinkling.

During the treatment, the patient has to follow some rules.  For example, you should stay away from cold weather, you should not eat cold food from ice cream and fridge, you should use sunglasses when you go out or in the sun, so that dust does not get into your eyes.  When sleeping at night, keep a handkerchief or soft cloth over the affected eye so that nothing falls into the eyes.  Exercise for a long time according to the physiotherapy doctor's advice.
