Among the long-term complications are narrowing of the lower part of the esophagus and esophageal cancer.  Frequent pneumonia and chronic cough can also occur.

Sore throat and heartburn are a known digestive problem.  This problem is many.  In medical parlance this is called reflux esophagitis.

After taking any food, it reaches the stomach through the esophagus.  At one stage of digestion, the stomach secretes an enzyme called acid and pepsin, which mixes with the food.  This mixture is supposed to pass further down the stomach into the small intestine.  But sometimes this mixture of food and enzyme-acid does not go down but goes up and goes back to the stomach.  The result is inflammation of the esophagus, with some symptoms.  This is called reflux esophagitis.

Why is that?

For various reasons, acid can rise up with food.  This can happen if part of the esophagus and stomach is weakened or damaged for any reason.  If the pressure inside the abdomen increases for any reason, such as pregnancy, obesity, etc., it can also be a problem.  Smoking and some medications can also cause reflux.  Reflux esophagitis can also be caused by a stomach problem called hiatal hernia.

Treatment

Reflux can be controlled by changing lifestyle and eating habits and using some medications that control acid.  One of the long-term complications of this disease is narrowing of the lower part of the esophagus and esophageal cancer.  Frequent pneumonia and chronic cough can also occur.  In addition, all the time, especially after eating discomfort.

Changes in lifestyle

Reflux esophagitis can be prevented by making some changes in lifestyle and eating habits.  Do not overeat or overeat, try to eat small amounts repeatedly.  Do not drink too much water while eating, drink water at least half an hour after eating.  Do not lie down immediately after eating.  Food should be eaten at least two to three hours before going to bed at night.  If the body weight is high, it should be reduced.  Do not eat after wearing tight clothes.  Smoking, alcohol, coffee, chocolate, etc. should be avoided.  If there is a problem at night, the head of the bed should be kept a little higher.  If the problem is more, you can take some medicine in a short period of time with the advice of a doctor.
