Children have many problems in the rainy season.  Waterborne diseases including diarrhea, colds, coughs, influenza, pneumonia and other bacterial infections increase during this time.  In addition, the incidence of malaria and dengue also increases.  It is accompanied by the coronavirus epidemic.  Therefore, the child needs special care at this time.

Diarrhea

If drinking water or water used to make food is contaminated, the child may get diarrhea.  Used water becomes unsafe due to monsoon waterlogging.  Bacterial infections such as rotavirus, hepatitis A, cholera, salmonella, etc. cause diarrhea.  If the baby has three or more thin stools in 24 hours, it is diarrhea.  This results in dehydration of the baby.  So you have to give saline from the beginning of diarrhea.  It is possible to protect the baby from diarrhea by feeding the baby only breast milk till the age of six months, using safe water in the baby's drinking water and food preparation, and applying rotavirus vaccine.

Influenza

Influenza virus is spread through contact with an infected person's cold-cough and the patient's consumables.  So the child should be kept away from cold and cough patients.  Care should be taken to ensure that the child does not touch the eyes, mouth and nose frequently and washes his hands with soap and water before eating.  Before giving water, milk or liquid food to a child suffering from cold and cough, it is beneficial to dip a thin cloth in lukewarm water and clean the nostrils like a thin needle.  To relieve cough, honey, basil juice, lemon mixed kusum hot safe water can be fed.  In case of fever, the child should be given paracetamol syrup and repeated fluids according to his weight.  If the baby suffers from high fever, shortness of breath or is unable to drink breast milk, starts to breathe fast, goes to the lower part of the breast, then he should be taken to the hospital immediately.

Dengue fever

Aedes mosquitoes breed in frozen clear water.  Due to the accumulation of water in the rainy season, this is a good time to breed mosquitoes.  Affected children suffer from high fever for the first few days.  Pain in the spine, pain in the back of the eyes, pain in the muscles;  Sometimes hemorrhagic dengue is manifested with bleeding in the gums and rectum.  Paracetamol should be taken for common dengue fever.  Drink frequently or drink liquid food.  If bleeding occurs, it should be admitted to the hospital immediately.  To prevent dengue, homes, offices, courts and educational institutions should be kept clean.  Care should be taken to ensure that water does not accumulate in flower tubs, coconut shells, empty can containers, car tires or pots.

The child needs to be more aware of safety at this time of the Corona epidemic.  If the child develops symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath and intestinal problems, the necessary action should be taken by examining the sample quickly.
